Rebuilding Together Richmond Partners with Richmond Window for National Rebuild Day

On National Rebuilding Day, 27 Richmond Window employees participated with the over 1,000 volunteers in the greater Richmond Area to revitalize homes for homeowners of need.

“[Service in the community] is huge for us. We have been in the community since 1954, and this community has gotten us this far, so we try to do everything we can to give back,” said Page Ewell, CEO of Richmond Window Corp.

“In the last couple of years we’ve really been more hands-on out in the community and it’s such a great thing we’re doing now. We’re totally changing Ms. Miller’s house: putting in new windows, cleaning out basement, fixing up porches, building a deck, cleaning out her yard — it’s just wonderful everything we’re able to do here.”

Our National Rebuild Day projects for Ms. Miller’s house included replacing all the windows, repairing her porch to code compliance, repairing handrails, decluttering items and fire hazards from the basement and rear sheds, installing insulation underneath the house, clearing and cleaning the backyard of invasive plants, and cosmetic touch-ups at the request of Ms. Miller and her family.

Window Replacement Day and Renewal by Andersen Certified Master Installers

Renewal by Andersen Certified Master Installers, Rodney Carden and Stevie Davis, skillfully headed the window replacement projects for Ms. Miller’s property.

Speaking to Richmond Window’s approach to window and door replacement as a Certified Master Installer, Stevie Davis said, “The most important thing is making sure they’re installed properly, doing it with care, and making sure everything is the way it should be — take care of [their house] like it was my own.”

Community Projects and Who We Are

“It meant a lot to our company to be involved in community projects like this. Growing up, I did a lot of community service and charities projects with retirement homes in my area, and so I know it’s extra special to make someone’s day by helping to keep them safe in their home,” said Ebony Coles, Head of Recruitment at Richmond Window Corp.

“When I’m looking for a candidate [for our company], I’m looking for people who embody our Core Values, and I think that’s exemplified well by the employees who are here today.”

“We were recently awarded a Top Workplace Award by Richmond Times Dispatch, and I think our involvement in giving back to the community is a big part of the reason we were recognized.”

Signature Service

“I just feel real blessed to have you all. I think the work that you have done is just fantastic, I really appreciate you all and I’m just so overwhelmed with how beautiful everything is,” said Ms. Miller, our Rebuilding Together homeowner.

“If you do need this help, please do it with [Rebuilding Together Richmond], what they did for me, from the bottom to the top to everything. I will tell you I couldn’t be more pleased.”

“It’s just a miracle, it really is amazing. I couldn’t believe it at first, couldn’t believe that an organization would do this much. I was just crying, I was worrying about the house, worrying about the money — it really was a miracle.”
