Renewal by Andersen of Central Virginia Volunteers with Feed More in Richmond to Fight Hunger
This July, Renewal by Andersen of Central Virginia partnered with Feed More, a leading hunger relief nonprofit in Richmond, VA, to volunteer and pack meals to be distributed to those in need throughout Central Virginia.
Members of Renewal by Andersen of Central Virginia’s Marketing and Operations departments gathered at Feed More, where they donned aprons, hair nets, and gloves, and got to work in Bayard Community Kitchen. Their duties included slicing meatloaf, portioning vegetables, and packaging sandwiches for distribution by Feed More’s partner agencies, including Meals on Wheels. At the end of their shift, team members were tasked with cleaning the packaging area, including scrubbing the conveyer belt.
With frequent opportunities to support their community through the Renewal Cares program, team members at Renewal by Andersen never shy away from chances to volunteer.
“I would definitely be interested in volunteering with Feed More again,” Rachael Toronto, a Customer Liaison Specialist at Renewal by Andersen of Central Virginia and Roanoke said after the shift. “This was a great way to give back, and I really enjoyed it!”
Feed More’s Mission to Fight Hunger in Central Virginia
Feed More has been a fixture of the Central Virginia nonprofit space since 2005, when the Central Virginia Food Bank and Meals on Wheels joined forces to prepare meals from scratch for those in need. Their service area stretches well beyond their Richmond, where both Feed More’s main campus and Renewal by Andersen of Central Virginia’s offices are located, from the Northern Neck to the North Carolina border, with additional branches in Warsaw and South Hill, VA. Through their work with 380+ community partners, Feed More is able to provide the community with 3,000 meals each day. A combination of Feed More employees, volunteers, and donations make this ongoing community support possible.
